The award was presented at the 44th COMEDS plenary by the COMEDS Chairman, LTG Gérard Nédellec (FRA) to the Director of MILMED COE, BG Dr. Stefan Kowitz (DEU) on 18 November 2015, in Brussels.
This award is given annually by the Committee of the Chiefs of Military Medical Services in NATO (COMEDS) in recognition of a significant and lasting contribution to NATO multi-nationality and interoperability or to improvements in the provision of health care in NATO missions within the areas of military medical support or military healthcare development. Receiving this outstanding award is a prestigious honor and distinction and it shows, as a most important feedback, that the work and efforts of MILMED COE are recognized by COMEDS and the NATO Medical Community.
In the words of BG Kowitz: „This award is a symbol and a thank you from COMEDS to the sponsoring Nations of NATO MILMED COE. A special recognition goes to Hungary since they provide 60% of the personnel and budget, but goes entirely to the dedication and engagement of all NATO MILMED COE staff members.”
