Military Global Health Engagement course

How can we ensure military engagement in global health is appropriate, constructive, effective and coordinated with other actors? How can you identify likely stakeholders in your Defence Engagement (DE) health activity? How can you link the strategic and tactical objectives? How would you approach the delivery of your DE health activity? What do you perceive as the greatest risk to achieving the success of your proposed DE activity? Amongst other things, the Military Global Health Engagement (MGHE) course seeks answers to these questions.

The MGHE course purpose is to help prepare individuals for future involvement, in the planning, delivery, or both, of Defence Health Engagement activities. The five-day physical attendance course aims not to generate subject matter experts, but rather to equip candidates with the principles, insights, and tools to use in support of current and future DHE roles. The current training provider is the UK Defense Medical Academy in Whittington, Staffordshire, Great Britain, where the latest course was held between 3-7 June. NATO MILMED COE was represented by our civilian colleague, Mrs. Éva Kucsmik-Horváth course developer and educational specialist who presented the organisation's activities.

Thanks to the effective cooperation of the NATO MILMED COE and Centre for Defence Healthcare Engagement, the course received NATO Approved certification which means that it meets a NATO education and training requirement. The first NATO Approved MGHE course is planned to take place in Budapest, in February 2025 - under the umbrella of NATO MILMED COE.

Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
