MIMMS 2024 Course in Budapest

The 3-day NATO Major Incident Medical Management and Support (MIMMS) course is a crucial training for personnel involved in major incident planning and response. As the only international standard in major incident medical management, it is taught and practiced globally, incorporated into both civilian and military medical procedures.

The NATO MIMMS course prepares responders for managing mass gathering emergencies (Mass Casualties), such as music concerts, sports events, earthquakes, or transport incidents. NATO has recognized the benefits of the MIMMS approach, incorporating its principles into the STANAG 2879.

The MIMMS course objectives include:

• Understand the organizations, structures, and roles in managing major incidents and how they collaborate.

• Prepare for and implement a structured approach (CSCATTTER) in response to major incidents.

• Provide the necessary medical support during major incidents through triage, treatment, and transport.

Last week in Budapest, paramedics, nurses, doctors, medical planners, and medical commanders from military units and civilian sectors from 10 Nations worked on delivering medical support for multiple casualties in the International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA), where MIMMS course and NATO MILMED COE were welcomed. The NATO MIMMS faculty conducted interactive lectures, group discussions, tabletops on major incident, radio use exercises, triage exercises, a practical Exercise Without Casualties (PEWC), and an Objective Structured Practical Examination (OSPE) involving a circuit of stations, each designed to test specific practical skills or knowledge through hands-on tasks or direct observation.

Registration for the 2025 course will open soon, and we look forward to your participation!
