Registration for Military Global Health Engagement (MGHE) Course

It is our pleasure to announce that registration for the NATO-approved training solution, titled "Military Global Health Engagement (MGHE) course" to be held in Budapest, Hungary, on 24-28 February 2025 is open and available at the following link:

Registration

MGHE is a new course under the auspices of the NATO MILMED COE which was developed by the Centre for Defence Engagement (Health) CDE(H), GBR in 2019. The current training provider is CDE(H) Defence Medical Services. Thanks to the effective cooperation of the NATO MILMED COE and CDE(H), the course is offered now to NATO and partner nations, and has received NATO-approved certification, and meets a NATO education and training requirement.

The MGHE course purpose is to help prepare individuals for future involvement, in the planning, delivery, or both, of Defence Health Engagement (DHE) activities. As a five-day physical attendance course, it aims not to generate subject matter experts, but rather to equip candidates with the principles, insights, and tools to use in support of current and future DHE roles. The course follows a modular structure using lectures, group work and seminars to deliver subject material, constructed around four key principles: Context, Planning, Delivery, Monitoring and Evaluation. Students will study Defence engagement and global health contexts and associated planning considerations for DHE activities. They will also consider and apply principles for supporting delivery and develop a monitoring and evaluation strategy for DHE activities. The course covers tactical and strategic levels.

The course assessment is through a progressively developed capstone project. Within small groups, the students have the opportunity at the end of each day to apply the day’s learning to a hypothetical scenario developing an MGHE activity. Each group is expected to present their project on the last day of the course, demonstrating how they have worked through each task and planned a high-quality MGHE activity. Utilizing the principles and exercises, a presentation should be produced together that shows the students have grasped and are capable of implementing the course content.
