Scientific bridge building at NATO MILMED COE
The NATO Centre of Excellence for Military Medicine (NATO MILMED COE) maintains continuous cooperation with scientific societies and universities, actively contributing to the development of military-civilian cooperation. This relationship is realized in the form of joint research activities, institutional partnerships and regular dissemination of our results, including the offer of the possibility of their application in the civilian environment. Our long-standing and fruitful cooperation with Semmelweis University spans several areas and organizational units, which clearly demonstrates the depth of this partnership.
On December 2, at the 24th Leadership and Management Conference organized by the Hungarian Health Management Society, LT Attila Kecskés, officer of the Training Branch of the NATO MILMED COE, presented the Near Real-Time Surveillance System (NRTS) developed by our Centre and successfully implemented in NATO missions. His presentation highlighted the military application of the capability, its potential for adaptation in the civilian healthcare environment, and NATO’s perspective on the future use of big data and artificial intelligence.
These results clearly demonstrate that NATO medical innovations serve not only the military structures of the Alliance; they can also be significant value to national civilian healthcare systems. The MILMED COE remains committed to strengthening scientific and professional bridges between the military and civilian domains.
