NEWS AND EVENTS
At our last Steering Committee Meeting, in December 2020, Lessons Learned and Innovation Branch identified as an Innovation goal to become a source of information on new and developing technologies of operational medical interest. We have developed the "Innovation Portal" as a means to capture and share innovation information – from ideas to newly developed capabilities. We are doing this in the belief that by increasing awareness of Innovation ideas and developments, we can speed the adoption of new technologies and innovative processes within NATO.
One of our never-ending tasks is to collect and distribute information in the Alliance's medical realm. This time around, we thought it to be useful to collect relevant military-medical journals and to add them to our Catalogue.
A new article titled Evidence-based medicine: lessons learned from the NATO Military Medical Center of Excellence has been added to our ever-growing list of materials, this time around co-authored by our very own Col. Dr. Petr Král, the head of our Interoperability Branch. Click to read the abstract and to head over to the article itself!
It is always a pleasure to act as a platform for medical papers from all over the NATO medical community. However, it is even better to promote our own scientific papers. Our Interoperability Branch is engaged in many practical activities, but they also have a scholarly vein too. Maj Jacopo Frassini, MD; LtC Zoltán Tóth, MD; Col Petr Král, MD has authored the article titled “Flight Surgeons, Aerospace Medicine And NATO Aeromedical Doctrine: Where Is The Alliance For Flight Safety?”, so click here to read the abstract and the article.
The NATO MILMED COE is the open door of NATO for everything medical and in that vein, strives to be the central knowledge hub in military medicine. Part of this effort is to maintain awareness of relevant military medical journals and other publications, that may interest our partners.
The creation and custodianship of key medical documents is one of our most important tasks, with the creation of this Manual, MILMED COE provides relevant and up-to-date guidance on a critically important area in medical exercises.
The Department of Operational Medicine of Pécs University and the NATO MILMED COE continue to build on their 8-year partnership. The aim of this visit was to identify new possibilities of cooperation and innovation and to share recommendations for future scientific work and practical cooperation. A summary of the visit by WO Attila KECSKÉS.
We regret to announce that due to the pandemic, the NATO Force Health Protection Conference 2020, planned for 21-25 September in France will be postponed.
